Which service codes are left out of this tool, and why

This is the short list. Site-based day programs, transportation company rates, mileage add-ons and work activity programs are left out here because they are rarely bought through an individual budget. Every code DDS publishes is in the full rate list.

Some service codes are left out of this tool on purpose, because they are published by DDS but never land on a Self-Determination spending plan. Leaving them in buries the codes you are actually looking for.

Not purchased through a spending plan

  • Licensed residential facility rates, codes 904 to 920, staff-operated and owner-operated homes serving adults and children. A participant living in a licensed facility is not purchasing that placement out of an individual budget.
  • Early Start infant development, code 805, birth to 36 months. Early Start is a separate program, and participants are effectively always older than this.

Funded by the regional center outside the SDP budget

  • Coordinated Family Support, code 076, including the DIR sub code. Tailored Day Services also sits under a 076 sub code in the Department’s workbook and is allowed, so it stays.
  • Financial Management Services, codes 490 and 491. The FMS administrative fee is paid by the regional center outside the individual budget, so it is never a spending plan line. What does hit the budget is employer burden, which the spending plan cost calculator handles.

DDS also funds these outside the budget, and none of them appears as a rate line in the first place: SSI and SSP restoration, paid through the regional center as a pass through under code 065; Competitive Integrated Employment incentives; Paid Internship Program wages; insurance co-payments, deductibles and co-insurance; and rental payments under Welfare and Institutions Code section 4689(i). Everything DDS publishes, including what is removed here, is in the companion spreadsheet on the Empowered Futures site: DDS_Rates_AllRegionalCenters.xlsx.

Next step

Found the rate. Now it has to go in a plan.

A published rate only pays once the service is written into a Person-Centered Plan and approved. Reach out and I will walk you through where to start.
